Arrest Made In CT Hit-Run That Killed Woman A Fairfield County man has been charged in a hit-run crash last year that killed a 74-year-old woman. The crash occurred in Stamford around 6:15 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, on West Main St., near the junction with Alvord Lane. Stamford Police Sgt. Jeffrey Booth said at the time of the crash, Marie Jean-Charles, a 74-year-old Stamford resident, was crossing West Main Street from north to south.  She was struck in the eastbound travel lanes by a vehicle traveling at what is believed to be a high rate of speed, Booth said. Jean-Charles was pronounced dead at the scene. …

Police Nab Violent Kidnapper In CT Who Fled New York, Cops Say Police in Fairfield County nabbed a violent kidnapper who fled from Westchester County after committing the alleged crime. The incident took place in Greenwich early Thursday, Sept. 21. According to Lt. Patrick Smyth, of the Greenwich Police, the department was notified by authorities in Westchester that police pursued a suspected wanted in a kidnapping and assault with a gun in Rye and had crossed state lines into the Town of Greenwich.  The suspect, identified as Daniel Patrick Twomey, age 39, of Lodi, New Jersey, was believed to be armed and dangerous, Smyth said. Joseph Heffner, aka “JC”, age 42, of Greenwich, surrendered to Greenwich Police at 11 am Thursday, June 2, after learning that there was a warrant for his arrest. He was given an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene. The suspect is described as a man standing 5-feet-10-inches tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds.
