Alleged Crime Family Member From Fairfield County Charged With Racketeering
Alleged members of the Genovese Organized Crime Family from Westchester and Fairfield counties are facing racketeering charges for their roles within the organization.
Federal prosecutors announced that four members and two associates of the family have been charged with racketeering conspiracy involving illegal gambling and extortion.

Eight people are facing federal charges for their roles in a massive drug distribution ring throughout Connecticut that led to the seizure of cocaine and nearly $800,000, authorities announced.
US Attorney Leonard Boyle announced that eight suspects have been charged for distributing fentanyl, heroin, crack, and powder cocaine in the New Haven area following a federal and local investigation.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for the entire region.
Damaging winds with gusts of 65 miles per hour that could cause power outings are the main threat, the National Weather Service said in issuing the alert. Frequent lightning and large hail are possible.

Woman Attempts To Withdraw Cash From Bank In Fairfield County Using Fake ID, Police Say
A 54-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly attempting to withdraw more than $2,000 from a TD Bank using another person's identity.
Banetta Grant, of the Bronx, was arrested on Wednesday, April 14, following the incident at the bank located at 55 Post Road in Darien, said Sgt. James Palmieri of the Darien Police.
According to Palmieri, Grant went into the bank and attempted to make a $2,300 withdrawal from an account.
The bank employee became suspicious because the owner of the account was a male, and the suspect was a female. When asked, Grant couldn’t answer basic challenge…
Duo Stole High-End Handbags In Greenwich, Police Say
Police arrested two men in connection with the theft of more than $20,000 in high-end handbags from a Fairfield County merchant.
Members of the Greenwich Police Organized Retail Criminal Activity Unit chased three suspects on foot down Greenwich Avenue on Wednesday, Jan. 27, after they were observed steeling high-value handbags from a local merchant, said Lt. John Slusarz.
Two of the suspects were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and struggle. The third suspect got away with over $20,000 of merchandise, Slusarz said.

Bicyclist From Fairfield County Struck, Killed By Van In Westchester
A bicyclist from Fairfield County was struck and killed by a van in Northern Westchester.
The incident happened on Saturday, Aug. 22 just before 1 p.m. in Pound Ridge.
The 2014 Ford Econoline van, operated by Lorenzo Davis, 33, of the Bronx, was traveling south on Route 137 (High Ridge Road), when, for unknown reasons, struck a bicyclist also traveling south on High Ridge Road, state police said.
The bicycle operator, Thomas J. Schultz, 70, of New Canaan, was pronounced dead by a Pound Ridge Emergency Medical Technician after life-saving techniques were unsuccessful.

Four Nabbed In Fraud Scheme At Bank In Greenwich, Police Say
A man and woman from Westchester were among four nabbed in a scheme to cash a fraudulent check at a Greenwich bank, according to police.
The incident took place around 4:29 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, when Makeeba Mercedes Bell, 28, of Ardsley, walked into the Chase Bank on Greenwich Avenue and attempted to cash a fraudulent check, Greenwich Police said.
Bell, who was wearing a green hoodie and black sweatpants, walked towards the rear of the bank parking lot where arriving Greenwich officers saw her getting into a Honda Civic parked in the handicapped spot, police said.
