Stop & Shop To Pioneer Doghouse For Pet-Owning Customers At Area Store
Stop & Shop will pilot a DogSpot house at an area store starting Thursday, June 6. The company based in Quincy, Massachusetts will run a 12-week test of the DogSpot house in Nassau County at the 65 Shore Road store in Port Washington. Stop & Shop Could Lose $100M As Result Of 11-Day Workers' Strike
The Stop & Shop workers strike that lasted 11 days in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island could cost the chain over $100 million in profits, Supermarket News reported. Parent company Ahold Delhaize gave the estimate following the end of the strike Sunday, April 21 of a one-off impact of $90 million to $110 million on the retail giant's underlying operating profit for 2019, according to the article. Frozen food sales are making a comeback around the country, according to a new report from the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) and Food Marketing Institute (FMI) on Supermarket News. Wegmans Edges Close To 100 Stores With New Area Location Coming
Wegmans Food Markets, which will soon be unveiling a location in Westchester, is now just two stores from having 100. That means the family-owned supermarket chain based in Rochester, will open its 100th store in 2019. Wegmans has plans for 14 other new stores in the next two years, including one along Westchester Avenue in Harrison near three major highways -- I-684, I-287 and I-95 -- as reported here by Daily Voice.
