Ridgefield's Brooke Blake, 12, Remembered For Her Never-Ending Smile
A 12-year-old Northern Fairfield County girl known for her never-ending smile and brave battle against a rare form of cancer has succumbed to the disease.
Brooke Blake, whose smile lifted many in Ridgefield as she fought the rare form of brain cancer, DIPG, for more than five years, died on Thursday, June 4.
Brooke, who turned 12 in May, was diagnosed with the untreatable form of pediatric brain cancer in 2015 when she was 7-years-old.

Norwalk Police Officer Dies After Battling Cancer
Norwalk Police are mourning the loss of Officer Cesar Ramirez, a 32-year veteran of the department, who died following a short battle with brain cancer.
Ramirez, 71, who died Tuesday, Jan. 21, had dedicated his career to his community was well known by the residents and business owners, a GoFundMe page said.
"Officer Ramirez spent his years of service helping those in need and has positively impacted so many," said Sgt. Sofia Gulino, who started the fundraising effort. "He is a hero."
In early December 2019, Ramirez was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

A retired mail carrier in Greenwich for 42 years and avid golfer, Michael J. DeLuca, died suddenly on Sunday, Sept. 15, at age 65.
He was born Sept. 24, 1953. Isabella Cilento of Mamaroneck died on Sunday, Sept. 30 after a courageous battle with cancer for more than one year.
She was 8 years old.
Isabella was born Oct. 13, 2009, the daughter of Francesco & Zvezda “Star” Cilento. She attended Central School, where she was loved by all her faculty and classmates.
