McMahon-Greenwich Baseball Semifinal Suspended by Rain

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — UPDATED 5/25, 9 AM: The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference has just announced that the rest of the semifinal matchup between Greenwich and McMahon will be played at Darien High School at 4:30 p.m.

The baseball conference semifinal between Greenwich High and Brien McMahon was suspended Thursday evening in the top of the fifth inning after a torrential downpour hit Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. Greenwich leads 1-0 and the game will continue from that point.

Greenwich starter Dylan Callahan was throwing a no-hitter when the game was suspended. Coaches, athletic directors and Harbor Yard groundskeepers made the mutual decision to postpone the game.

The rain lasted only about 10 minutes, but it came down hard enough that groundskeepers decided the mound could be damaged if play continued.
