GA Students Earn Psat Honors

Savannah Strong and Garcia Vargas, both seniors at Greenwich Academy, have been awarded special recognition from the College Board and the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

Both young women are active in the community and at Greenwich Academy. Strong recently was honored as an Outstanding Participant in the National Achievement Scholarship Program because her score was in the top 3 percent of 160,000 black Americans who applied in the 2009 preliminary SAT. She also serves as vice president of the student body and the Honor Board president.

Vargas was named a 2010-11 National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, selected out of 200,000 students who took the 2009 PSAT. In honor of her contributions to the community, Vargas was named third runner-up in the World Affairs Forum's 2010 Future Global Leader of Fairfield County Scholarship Program.
