Brunswick Students Lend Holiday Hand

Students from the Brunswick School got into the holiday spirit Tuesday, turning a room at the Greenwich Family Centers' Head Start Preschool into a food pantry. Several large tables were piled with Thanksgiving essentials such as stuffing, cranberries and potatoes.

"It feels good to be helping people and the community," said Brunswick sophomore Azario Mastrangelo. "Our school does a food drive and chooses a differently charity every year."

More than 50 bags were assembled and delivered to those in need. Jennifer Flatow, volunteer manager at Family Centers, said there has been an increase in the amount of food donated.

Volunteers, staff and students worked to assemble each bag for a family of four with the essentials, including a frozen turkey or gift card to buy one. Flatow said volunteers delivered the bags Tuesday evening to make sure people have the food for the holiday.
