Mary E. Dineen, 79, Retired Greenwich Teacher

WOODBURY, Conn. - Mary Elizabeth Dineen of Woodbury, a retired Greenwich school teacher, died Saturday, Jan. 4. She was 79.

Dineen was born Feb. 6, 1934, in Waterbury, daughter of Aliresa Fanning Dineen and Patrick Francis Dineen. She graduated from Woodbury High School in 1952. She attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs and received her bachelor's degree in education from New Haven State Teachers College. She earned her master's and sixth-year degrees from Fairfield University. She was an elementary school teacher for 36 years in Long Beach, Calif., moving to Woodbury and retiring from the Greenwich school system in 1992. She was a communicant of St. Teresa of Avila Church in Woodbury.

Dineen is survived by her sister, Frances (Michael T.) Keilty of Morris; niece, Elizabeth Donovan (John) of Milton; nephews, Michael P. (Tracy) Keilty of Morris and Bryan Keilty (Andrea) of New Hartford; and seven grand- nieces and grand-nephews.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Main Street South, Woodbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the spring.
