Allan O. Gard, 56, Former Longtime Greenwich Resident, Navy Veteran

GARDNER, Mass. - Allan O. Gard of Gardner, formerly of Greenwich, died Sunday, Nov. 10. He was 56.

Gard was born Sept. 15, 1957, in Greenwich, son of Carl and Mildred G. (Hagman) Gard. He graduated from Greenwich High School in 1975 and resided in Greenwich most of his life. He  served in the United States Navy from 1976 to 1982 as an intelligence specialist, spending time aboard the USS Nimitz. He attended Boston University and graduated from UCONN Storrs in 1985 with a B.A. in English. He worked in retail sales, which included management positions at St. Claire's of Greenwich, Godiva Chocolatier and Starbuck's.

In addition to his sister Nancy, he is survived by his sister, Karin and husband Milo Tsukroff of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., his uncle Allan and aunt Vivien Gard of Guilford, CT, his mother in law, Edith Martin of Lindenhurst, NY and many nephews, nieces, extended family and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Mary Lou (Martin) Gard.

There will be no calling hours. Military funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. in Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gardner VNA Hospice, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
