GREENWICH, Conn. A man wearing a dark brown hoodie and Yankees cap held up the Riverside branch of Peoples United Bank on Wednesday morning. Police believe he is the same man who held up Peoples branch on Greenwich Avenue earlier this month, police said.
Based on the surveillance images its the same guy, said Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for the Greenwich Police Department. Detectives looked at it and they believe it to be the same guy.
The suspect entered the bank, located at 1155 East Putnam Ave., Wednesday morning and gave the teller a note demanding money. The teller handed over an unknown amount of money and the robber left on foot. He was last seen at the rear of the bank.
Police responded at 10:17 following a holdup alarm and 911 call, said Gray. The Stamford Police canine unit was also called in to track scents, said Gray.
No weapon was displayed and no one was hurt, just as in the other robbery, which took place Nov. 5 at the Peoples Bank at the bottom of Greenwich Avenue.
Police recovered an activated dye pack and said the man might have red dye on his hands or clothing. Its a fairly indelible dye thats going to be difficult to remove, said Gray.
The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall Hispanic or light-skinned black male in his 20s with facial hair and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a black or dark blue New York Yankees baseball hat, a dark brown hooded sweatshirt and dark brown baggy sweatpants, similar to the clothing he was wearing at the prior robbery.
