Robert Allis, Owned A&A Garage

Robert F. Allis, an avid sports fan who formerly owned A&A Garage in Greenwich, died Thursday at Bethel Healthcare in Bethel. He was 82 years old.

The lifelong Greenwich resident owned A&A from 1983 to 1994. An Army veteran and passionate Yankees and Giants fan, he was known for telling stories and entertaining family and friends. He especially enjoyed watching football.

He is survived by a nephew, John Allis; fives nieces, Joan Hancock, Peggy Britton, Deborah Lamoureux of Greenwich, and Virginia and Constance Allis of Stamford, and many great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and William Allis. Family and friends may visit the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at the First Congregational Cemetery in Old Greenwich.
