Orlando A. Siciliano, a lifelong Greenwich resident died Oct. 17 at Greenwich Hospital at the age of 92. He grew up on the golf courses in Greenwich through the Great Depression and World War II.
As a young boy in the late 1920s, he started his long career at the Milbrook Club by working as a caddy. Known as "Lit" or Tommy to his close friends, Siciliano was a life member of the Professional Golfers Association of America and just passed his 60th anniversary as a member. He spent 31 years as the PGA professional at the Milbrook Club, retiring in 1980. He was an honorary member of the Milbrook Club.
He won the Greenwich Town Golf Championship in 1946, 1947 and 1948, when he retired the trophy.
As an active senior, Siciliano was a member of the Greenwich Old Timers' Athletic Association and was an honoree in 1986. He was also a member of the St. Lawrence Society, where he was the Columbus Day honoree for 2006.
Siciliano served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign with the 140th Field Artillery Battalion during World War II. He received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star Service and the Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by his companion of 60 years, Olive J. Buddington; sister, Mary Bria; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena on Oct. 22.
