Old Greenwich Man Charged With Unlawful Restraint

An Old Greenwich man was arrested Saturday after a woman told police he had assaulted her and held her against her will from Friday to Saturday.

The woman said William Olivero, 35, of 21 Old Kings Highway, whom she knows, picked her up in his car, threatened to kill her and hit her several times before driving her to New York. He threatened to shoot her with a gun and drove to his home, where he hit her in the face, causing a minor injury.

Police found Olivero and a BB gun in his car. He was arrested on charges of unlawful restraint, threatening and weapons in a motor vehicle. He was held on $100,000 bond and was due in court Monday.

Also from the Greenwich Police Department:

• Jonathan Castano, 24, of 11 Bedford Ave., Norwalk, was arrested Sunday after he wouldn’t stop his car when police attempted after allegedly catching him speeding Saturday. Police followed him on Interstate 95, where the pursuit was called off after it became too dangerous near Exit 4. Norwalk police located him, and Castano turned himself into the Greenwich Police on charges of engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic signal, traveling too fast and speeding. He posted $250 bond and is due in court April 21.  

• A 20-year-old man from Somers, N.Y., was arrested in Greenwich on Sunday after police found he had entered a home where the victim was house-sitting and took a cell phone without permission. The victim tried to call the police but the man hung up the phone and prevented her from using other phones to call for help. He was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, interfering with a 911 call and criminal trespass. He was released on $1,000 bond and was due in court Monday.
