GREENWICH, Conn. A New Jersey man was arrested in Greenwich Sunday and charged with selling candy under the guise of benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of America, police said.
Police said they received a report that Malik Naseem Abdul Rourk, 30, of Jersey City, was selling candy for the organization in front of CVS on Greenwich Avenue. An investigation revealed he was not associated with the Boys & Girls Club.
Rourk was charged with soliciting without a tax stamp and soliciting without a permit. He also gave a phony name to police and was additionally charged with forgery and interfering with an officer.
He was being held on a $5,000 bond and is due in court Oct. 24.
