Foursquare allows its 8 million users around the world to let their friends know where they are at all times. People can "check in" at various locations using their smartphones and collect points, prize badges and coupons for local businesses. You're crowned "mayor" when you've been to a place more than anyone else. Unless a mayor continues to check in, someone else has the chance to steal the title.
