Mary Winefred Bohacs, Longtime Greenwich Resident

Mary Winefred Bohacs, a longtime Greenwich resident who was known to family and friends for never missing a party or gathering, died Jan. 4. She was 84.

Born in New York City to the late Philip and Mary Tuite, Bohacs grew up in New Rochelle, N.Y., and graduated from Isaac Young High School. She was an active parishioner at St. Mary Church, where she served as a scout leader and Eucharistic minister.

She retired from D.W. Rogers, where she kept her finger on the pulse of local births and baptisms. Bohacs volunteered with the Ladies Guild and Greenwich Red Cross and worked the polls for many elections, in between time at the beach and road trips with family and friends.

Bohacs is survived by her husband of 56 years, Julius; and her children, Kevin and wife Susan, Susan and husband Gary, Kenneth, and Nancy; and a grandson. Her brother, Robert Tuite, died in 2009.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St Mary's Catholic Church, 178 Greenwich Ave. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 399 North St. All are invited to attend a reception celebrating her life after the service at St. Mary Church.
