Man Charged In Grass Island Booth Break-In

GREENWICH, Conn. – A Greenwich man was charged with criminal mischief and simple trespass after he was found sleeping in a guard booth at Grass Island, police said.

Amado De Leon, 29, of 14 Arctic St., was intoxicated and trying to escape inclement weather, police said.

The booth's air conditioner was ripped out and a sliding window was broken.

Police were alerted to the incident when De Leon tried to use the booth's emergency phone to call 911. He was released on a promise to appear in court on March 5.

• Johanna Hermansen, 50, of 410 Poplar St. in Bridgeport, turned herself in Feb. 13 on a warrant charging her with failure to appear in court. The charge stemmed from a June 2011 incident in which she was charged with disorderly conduct at a McDonald’s in Greenwich. She caused a scene and demanded free food, police said.

 • David Cluett, 57, of 137 Round Hill Road, was charged with criminal mischief, larceny, and disorderly conduct after a cab fare dispute with a taxi driver, police said. Cluett was intoxicated, refusing to pay the cab fare and kicking the door of the cab when police arrived, police said. He also had ripped the rubber molding from around passenger door in the taxi, police said. He was being held on a $500 bond and is due in court on March 5.
