Man Arrested After Shoveling Feud in Greenwich

An elderly man, who allegedly swung a snow shovel at another man during a dispute over a cleared parking spot, was arrested in Greenwich on Sunday.

Moses Montanez, 70, of 453 Old Post 3 Road, had finished shoveling a parking space when another man allegedly parked his car in the spot. An argument ensued, and Montanez allegedly attempted to strike the man with the shovel. He was arrested on charges of breach of peace and reckless endangerment. Montanez posted $250 bond and is due in court Feb. 4.

Also from the police blotter:

• Maria Hernandez, 36, of 42 Henry St., Greenwich, was arrested by warrant Tuesday on charges of second-degree failure to appear in court. She was held on $75,000 bond and is due in court Feb. 8.

• Tito Jaramillo, 20, of 4 Ivy St., Greenwich, was arrested Tuesday after turning himself in on a warrant stemming from an incident Nov. 19. He was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace. Jaramillo was released on $2,500 bond and is due in court Feb. 9

• Randel Read, 41, was arrested during a traffic stop when police learned there was an outstanding warrant out for his arrest by the Greenwich Police Department. He was charged second-degree larceny and third-degree forgery. Read was released on $800 bond and is due in court Feb. 9.
