GREENWICH, Conn. A 55-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y., man was arrested after he allegedly tried to solicit work illegally from his car on East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich.
Toby Ufie, of 497 Myrtle Ave., was parked in a lot at 90 E. Putnam Ave. when officers received information that Ufie had illegally worked on someone's car. The individual who complained said Ufie had approached him in the parking lot and offered to work on his vehicle for $200. The man said Ufie did light bonding work to the rear bumper of his car. While officers were in the parking lot, a second man told them Ufie had also approached him about working on his vehicle, but the man declined and left the area.
Ufie was charged with illegal sales without a sales tax permit, violation of sellers obligation, criminal attempt and violation of town ordinance.
He was being held on a $1,000 bond and is due in court May 21.

Domestic violence: A 54-year-old Greenwich mother was charged with disorderly conduct Saturday in connection with a domestic incident with her daughter that resulted in minor injury. She was released on a promise to appear in court on Monday.
Breach of peace: A 31-year-old Greenwich man was arrested on a breach of peace charge after he allegedly threw a lit cigarette at a woman during an argument at Wilbur Peck Court on Friday. Officers confirmed a burn mark was left on the sleeve of the woman and witnesses told police the man also pushed her during the argument. He was released on a $500 bond and was due in court on Monday.
Violating probation: A 28-year-old Greenwich woman turned herself in to police on three outstanding warrants charging her with violation of probation. Two of the warrants stemmed from alleged violations in Greenwich and one was out of Stamford. Nicole Caldwell of 27 Havemeyer Place posted a $500 bond and was released. She is due in court on May 21.
