Fairfield County's Friends Of Autistic People Receives Grant

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The Friends of Autistic People received a grant of $3,500 from First County Bank for its new music assisted autism therapy clinic developed for children and adults on the autism spectrum.

The grant will contribute to the money required for FAP to continue the program for another year and expand it to include additional participants with autism, according to a press release.

Last year, having received several private donations and one larger grant, in collaboration with a leading music therapist, FAP developed a music-based treatment program for children and adults with autism, according to a press release. The therapy is a movable service and brought to the individual’s home, school or group home wherever it is most convenient, according to a press release.

The music therapy treatment clinic heralds the programs that will be provided on the future Farm Living & Learning Academy planned by FAP, according to a press release. The plan is to transfer the service to the farm once it is established.

FAP is widely renowned for its advocacy, education and referral work to improve the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum, according to a press release.
