Crash Closes King Street in Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – A 2 a.m. two-car crash closed King Street in Greenwich Thursday when both cars rolled off the road.

The crash happened when a car attempted to pass a second car, which had begun to slow down, according to police. The passing car swerved and collided with the first car, causing both to roll over off the road. The car being passed struck two utility poles, severing them at the base.

The driver of the car being passed was trapped and had to be extricated by the Greenwich Fire Department. The driver was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released for non-threatening injuries. The operator of the car that was passing suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
