Christopher T. Harris, 18, Music Student

Christopher T. Harris Jr., 18, of Greenwich died Saturday, Jan. 8, at his home. Chris was born in Greenwich on March 2, 1992. He graduated from Greenwich High School in 2010 and was a freshman at the University of New Haven, where he was studying music engineering.

“It is difficult to adequately express the sorrow we feel at this time,” Greenwich Schools Superintendent Sidney Freund said in a message sent out Tuesday. “We offer our deepest condolences and support to the student’s family, friends, and teachers.”

Chris was an avid musician who both wrote and performed. Chris played football and rugby at Greenwich High School and spent all his free time recording music and writing beats.

Chris is survived by his parents, Christopher Sr. and Karen; his sister, Emily, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Harris’ family will receive friends from noon to 3 p.m. and 5  to 9 p.m. on Friday at Leo P. Gallagher & Sons, at 31 Arch St. in Greenwich. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the First Congregational Church at 108 Sound Beach Ave. in Old Greenwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Christopher Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund to benefit future music students.
