Alice Harreys, Retired Travel Agent

Alice Scanlan Harreys, a Greenwich resident since she was 8, died of natural causes Oct. 21 at Nathaniel Witherell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was 92.

Harreys, known to her friends as "Petie", attended Greenwich High School and graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Noroton. She worked for the Putnam Trust Co. as a travel agent for more than 20 years. After she retired, Harreys worked as a receptionist for St. Mary's Parish Center.

Her husband, James W. Scanlan, preceded her in death in 1960. Her second husband, Charles W. Harreys, died in 1990.

She is survived by sons, James, Jeffery, Christopher and Peter Scanlan; daughters, Shelly Lewis and Sharon Callahan; and 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Oct. 22 at St. Mary's Church. Memorial donations can be made to the Friends of Nathaniel Witherell Foundation, 70 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT 06830
