The Musicians from Marlboro will grace the stage at Greenwich Library's Cole Auditorium once again, bring along a new group of performers for a free concert at 4 p.m. Oct. 30.
The Vermont-based group will perform the works of Respighi, Cuckson and Mozart with musicians and a concert singer. According to Kate Petrov, library public relations officer, the program will showcase young musicians with seasoned artists in rarely heard works and challenging instrumental pieces.
Jennifer Johnson, a mezzo-soprano concert singer and recitalist, adds a new element to the touring group since it last performed in Greenwich.
Marlboro festival senior artist and violinist Ida Levin will be accompanied by Yonah Zur on violin, Beth Guterman on viola, Saeunn Thorsteinsdottir on cello, Zachary Cohen on double bass, Sivan Magen on harp, Jose Vicente Castello on horn, and Sarah Beaty on clarinet.
Since 1951, the Marlboro Music program, from the sleepy town of Marlboro, Vt., has been dedicated to motivating young musical leaders and allowing them to learn from experienced musicians. The program allows them to spend up to seven weeks gaining inspiration from one another and rehearsing more than 200 works each summer.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public, thanks to the Friends of the Greenwich Library. For more information, call 622-7938.
