Greenwich's Bruce Museum Exhibit Unscrambles Mystery Of Eggs

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Just in time for Easter, the Bruce Museum in Greenwich has opened a new exhibit called "Eggs-hibition: Unscrambling Their History."

The display, which opened last Friday, asks the age-old question, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?”

"Eggs-hibition" includes bird eggs, edible eggs, ugly eggs and magnificent eggs, including several spectacular eggs and artworks borrowed from Betteridge Jewelers, the Ukrainian Museum and Library of Stamford, and the Museum of Russian Icons as well as items from the Bruce Museum collection.

Drawing on food, fairy tales and Fabergé eggs, the "Eggs-hibition" explores the evolution of the egg, its role in creation myths worldwide, the complex simplicity of its design, and its inspiration on artists who have painted, bejeweled, photographed and written about them for more than a millennium, the museum said in a statement.

The Bruce Museum is located at 1 Museum Drive, Greenwich. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Easter Sunday. Call 203-869-0376 for more information.
