With the drop in temperatures, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has activated the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol beginning Thursday evening and remaining in effect through Saturday morning.

This will "initiate essential services that will help protect our most vulnerable,” Malloy said. “Anyone in need of shelter is urged to call 2-1-1 to find the nearest available locations. I am also encouraging local communities to consider opening warming centers or other facilities to assist people in need.”

There is a chance of isolated snow showers Thursday night between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. The low will be around 10, and wind chill values will be between negative 5 and 5.

Friday will be sunny with a high near 22 and wind chill values between negative 5 and 5. Friday night will see snow, mainly after midnight.
