Murder Conviction: CT Woman Admits To Role In 2020 Killing Of Father Of 3
A Connecticut woman pleaded guilty Tuesday, June 6, to helping cover up the kidnap and murder of a Massachusetts man on Christmas Eve 2020, federal authorities said. Hartford County resident Shamari Smith, 34, of Manchester, faces up to three years after admitting to misprision of felony in the kidnap and killing of Francisco "Paco" Roman, the US Attorney for Connecticut said. A former FBI agent, who was found guilty of leaking information to notorious Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger that led to the killing of a major sports figure, is being released from prison early on medical grounds. On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Florida Commission on Offender Review voted to release John Connolly, who has cancer, so that he may die at home. Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Gambino Crime Family Members From Region Admit To Multiple Crimes
A dozen members and associates of the Gambino organized crime family of La Cosa Nostra admitted to multiple crimes, including racketeering conspiracy, fraud, obstruction of justice and related offenses for criminal activities throughout the New York metropolitan area committed as part of the illicit activities of the Gambino family. A former Securities and Exchange Commission investigator from Fairfield County is facing an obstruction of justice charge for alleged unauthorized computer access and disclosure of confidential information to a firm where he sought a job.
