CT Woman Stopped For Traffic On I-95 Killed In 3-Vehicle Crash
A 78-year-old Connecticut woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash on I-95. The collision took place on I-95 northbound just north of Exit 91 in New London County around 11:50 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 11 in Stonington. According to Connecticut State Police, a 22-year-old man was driving a Mazda CX-5 on the left of two lanes when he struck the back of a Honda Civic that was stopped for traffic congestion, sending the Honda off the right side of the road and into a ditch. A driver was cited for traffic violations following a crash that involved six vehicles on I-91 in Connecticut. The crash happened in the Hartford County town of Wethersfield at about 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, Connecticut State Police reported. A 36-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash at a Connecticut intersection. It happened in Windham County at about 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27 in the town of Windham, according to Connecticut State Police. Police in Connecticut have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash. New Haven County resident Jacqueline Sheppard, age 58, of Waterbury, was killed around 8:40 p.m., Monday, Sept. 27, during a multiple-vehicle crash on Route 8 in Waterbury in which an SUV fled the scene. A Silver Alert has been issued after a 12-year-old girl went missing in Fairfield County. Evelyn Santos-Oliveira was last seen on Saturday, Oct. 31 at her residence in Bridgeport, police said. Residents continue to leave their vehicles unlocked in Fairfield County, and opportunistic thieves continue to break into them and steal them, police said. The New Canaan Police Department issued an alert on Monday, Aug. 31 after a third vehicle was stolen out of the city over the weekend. Mazda Recalls Nearly 190,000 Vehicles
Mazda announced that it is recalling nearly 200,000 Mazda 3 compact cars nationwide due to failing windshield wipers. Over the weekend, the company posted documentation stating that the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is recalling models produced between 2016 and 2018. According to the NHTSA, metal deposits can cause the wiper relay to stick, knocking out the wipers and causing limited visibility for drivers.
