Local Man Charged With Reckless Driving After Crash In Fairfield County
A Fairfield County man was arrested for reckless driving after allegedly falling asleep behind the wheel and crashing into a tree, police said. In New Canaan, a driver crashed into a tree near the intersection of Cherry Street and Locust Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24. Police said that the driver, New Canaan resident Jonathan Whitehead Old, age 62, called the crash into the department and said that he had fallen asleep while driving through the intersection before crashing into the tree. One Injured In Fairfield County After Crashing Into Construction Ditch
One person was injured in Fairfield County after allegedly ignoring traffic cones and their vehicle ended up in a construction ditch, according to authorities. The crash took place around 9:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 13 on Locust Avenue, in New Canaan, said Lt. Jason Ferraro, of the New Canaan Police. The vehicle sustained front-end damage. The driver was transported to Norwalk Emergency Room by NCEMS for evaluation of possible injuries, Ferraro said. The crash is still under investigation. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Man Charged With DUI After Driving Into Active Work Zone In Fairfield County, Police Say
A driver was allegedly intoxicated when he intentionally disobeyed traffic signs and drove through an active work zone in Fairfield County, police said. Shortly after 2 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, a New Canaan police officer on patrol spotted a driver ignoring traffic control signs, at which point he entered a road closed due to construction at the intersection of Main Street and Locust Avenue. Man Accused Of Leaving Scene After Crashing Into Two Vehicles In Fairfield County, Police Say
A Fairfield County man was arrested for alleged avoiding responsibility/property damage and unsafe backing after attempting to leave the scene of a crash. Ramesh Abhiraman, age 56, New Canaan, was arrested on Monday, June 21, for the incident which took place in May in the area of Locust Avenue and Forest Street in New Canaan. Truck Stopped In Middle Of New Canaan Roadway Leads To DUI Arrest, Police Say
A man asleep behind the wheel of a truck in the middle of a busy road was driving with a blood alcohol content nearly triple the legal limit in New Canaan, police said. Officers from the New Canaan Police Department received a report at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning, of a truck that was stopped in the middle of New Norwalk Road near the intersection of Locust Avenue.
