New Canaan Country School Students Earn National Attention New Canaan Country School students made a strong showing in the recent 2018 National World Languages exams. In Spanish, of the 34,600 students who sat for the exam nationwide, four Gold medals - the highest possible prize – were awarded to New Canaan Country School students, placing eighth grader Ellie Hanson in the top 4 percent, and ninth graders Shane Carbin of Norwalk, Georgia Rivero of New Canaan and Hannah Nightingale of Rowayton in the top 1 percent of the United States.
