The positive daily COVID-19 infection rate in Connecticut rose slightly, though the metrics continue to improve across the board as the state distances itself from the holiday season.
According to the Connecticut Department of Public Health on Tuesday, Jan. 18, the state administered more than 23,000 COVID-19 tests in the past 24 hours, resulting in 4,264 laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus for a daily positivity rate of 18.44 percent, up slightly from the previous day, but down dramatically from the post-holiday spike of new infections.

Nearly 1,150 COVID-19 patients are now hospitalized in Connecticut, which reported a dozen new deaths as the virus continues surging through the region.
In his latest COVID-19 update, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont said on Tuesday, Jan. 19 that there were 27 new patients admitted into state hospitals with the virus, while the death toll climbed to 6,682 since the pandemic began last year.

The number of “red" communities in Connecticut has reached 100, according to the most recent state data, Thursday, Nov. 12.
Infection rates have been rising in Connecticut dramatically. There are now 100 cities and towns with the highest daily averages of newly reported COVID-19 cases.
