Cause Of Death Unknown For Rare, 7-Foot Black Dragon At Maritime Aquarium In Norwalk The staff of The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is mourning the death of its Asian water monitor lizard, more commonly known as its black dragon. The 7-foot lizard died overnight Monday, April 22. “We’re always saddened by the death of any animal at the Aquarium, but the black dragon was appreciated as a very special creature by staff as well as by our guests,” said Barrett Christie, the Aquarium’s director of Animal Husbandry. Tortoise Hatches At Maritime Aquarium In Norwalk Norwalk’s Maritime Aquarium has officially announced the arrival of a newly hatched reptile barely the size of a quarter: a leopard tortoise. The hatching, which occurred Sunday, Jan. 6, marks the first of its kind to occur at the aquarium.
