Fairfield Police Pursue Stolen Car That Smashed Into Post Road Hydrant FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The driver of a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee smashed into a Post Road fire hydrant and led police on a brief pursuit before ditching the car in Bridgeport early Saturday, Fairfield police said. Officers first spotted the Jeep traveling east on Old Post Road in Fairfield with two other vehicles also believed to be stolen from the area just after 4 a.m., police said. On Friday, Luke Montgomery 19, of Hillspoint Road, was charged with obtaining controlled drugs fraud.
