“At campaign time, we seek endorsements,” Himes said in a statement. “We seek endorsements of groups that we have hopefully served and I will tell you this morning that there is no endorsement I value more than the endorsement of these veterans I am standing with today. To have their validation, to hear from them that in these last six years that I’ve worked hard to serve them is about as high an honor as I can receive.”
Himes was joined by veterans Paul Bucha, a Ridgefield resident and a Medal of Honor recipient; David Cole of Norwalk; Archie Elam of Stamford; Taber Hamilton on Norwalk; and state Rep. Jack Hennessey of Bridgeport at an event at Veteran’s Park in Norwalk.
“Jim is a very special person, and right now what this country needs is leadership,” Bucha said in a statement. “Not inexperienced leadership. Proven leadership. That is what the veterans are looking for and are entitled to have. Most importantly, Jim is a compassionate man who listens. Those who have served and their families need someone to look up to, and Jim is one of the extraordinary ones. Even though he is relatively young in the Congress, he is a leader in the Congress.”
