An employee of the Old Post Road branch called police when the man, who was wearing a motorcycle-type face mask and carrying a duffle bag, attempted to open the door around 4:12 p.m.

When he realized he was noticed by employees inside, the subject ran from the bank and drove off in a green 1996 Honda Accord headed towards I-95 southbound, police said.

Bank employees told police they believe the man was trying to commit a robbery, but showed up too late. The branch is only open until 4 p.m. most weekdays.

There is no surveillance footage at this time. Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the police department at 203-254-4840 or text-a-tip to CRIMES (274637).
