The woman called police after her boyfriend, Richard Silvestro, 25, drove away from a house on Cascade Drive following an argument that turned violent, police said. She told officers that Silvestro had thrown a number of items at her, causing a visible injury to her finger, police said.
After he threw the items, Silvestro went into the kitchen, picked up a knife and threatened to harm himself before getting in his car and driving away, police said.
After Silvestro's departure, the woman went to a house on Palomar Road to contact police. While talking to police, she yelled that Silvestro's green pickup truck was driving by and an officer was able to stop him at Fairfield Woods Road, police said.
He told officers that he was driving by to apologize, police said.
Police charged Silvestro with third-degree criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, threatening and third-degree assault. He was taken by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital for an emergency evaluation, police said.
