The body was discovered around 1147 a.m., Monday, Sept. 30, in the area of 1 Atlantic St., said Rowena White, spokesperson for the Bridgeport Police Department.
"At this time all public safety and emergency departments are at the scene to recover the body," White said.
Bridgeport firefighters BFD assisted with the recovery from the water and turned the body over to the state’s Medical Examiner, White said.
"There were no visible signs of death on the body, the ME will conduct a full autopsy and investigation to determine (the) cause of death," she added.
According to White, the man is described as being black and in his 30s or 40s.
Bridgeport detectives are still on scene.
