FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Eileen Ann Cahill, 79, of Fairfield, wife of Robert F. Cahill, died Monday, Oct. 26.
She was born and raised in Revere, Massachusetts. As her husband's career evolved, she resided in Danvers, Mass.; Camillus, N.Y.; Reading, Mass.; Southport; and McLean, Va., before returning to Fairfield 30 years ago.
A devout Catholic and daily communicant, she had been an active member of St. Pius X Church, where she led the annual St. Pius X Tag sale to benefit Operation Hope for 25 years.
A member of Black Rock Yacht Club for 40 years, she enjoyed playing tennis and socializing with her longtime BRYC friends. She and her husband had numerous opportunities to travel throughout the U.S. and abroad.
In addition to Bob, her husband of 55 years, she is survived by her children, Robert Cahill, Jr. of Fairfield; Christine Hogan (Anthony) of Fairfield; Cathy Nelson (Ronald) of Fairfield; Paul Cahill (Susan) of Cheshire; and Patty Ann Steeley (Kevin) of Pittsford, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; a sister of Beverly, Mass.; and over 30 nieces and nephews and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Patrick and Mary Kilroy McCarrick, she was predeceased by one brother.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. directly in St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
