While surrounded by cameramen and reporters, Billy Skelos grabs the wrist of a New York Daily News reporter and throws her cellphone across the street. His actions are shown in a video shot by News Channel 13/WNYT in Albany outside the courthouse in Manhattan where Dean Skelos and his son, Adam, were sentenced to prison. Adam Skelos received a sentence of six-and-a-half-years in prison.
Billy Skelos, a 27-year-old former lacrosse player at SHU, was charged with misdemeanor assault after the incident.
The reporter involved received a tetanus shot as a precaution because she suffered scratches in the incident, the New York Daily News reports.
Skelos, a Republican, and his son, Adam, were convicted of conspiring to use Dean Skelos’ position for jobs, fees and benefits. Dean Skelos was also found guilty in December of illegally approving a contract for a Scarsdale firm for which his son had been employed.
