Fairfield Men Charged in Bowling Alley Attack

Two Fairfield men were arrested Tuesday night for allegedly attacking a Darien man at Nutmeg Bowl on Villa Avenue. Witnesses told police that Karl Rempe, 18, of Saxon Wood Road, and Raj Kumar, 18, of Marne Avenue, walked into the bowling alley around 11:24 p.m. and began “pummeling” the 18-year-old Darien man, striking  him repeatedly in the head and stomach.

When police arrived, they discovered that the victim was the ex-boyfriend of Rempe’s younger sister. The girl, who was bowling in the lane next to the victim, told police that she saw the Darien man when she walked in and called her brother because she did not feel safe. Rempe and Kumar were both charged with a breach of the peace. Both were released on a promise to appear in court Jan.  7.
