At 2 p.m. Wednesday, the fire department responded to the accident on Osborne Lane. Workers found the man on the ground with serious injuries, firefighters said.
He was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital.
That was just one of the many calls for the Fairfield Fire Department in 24 hours.
A Fairfield woman was injured early Thursday when a large tree fell on her Pellmeadow Drive home.
Fire officials were called to the home around 6:18 a.m. There they found a large tree had done significant structural damage to the house.
Emergency personnel removed the woman and treated her injuries before transporting her to the hospital.
“While there were injuries and significant damage to the home, this situation could have been much worse,” said Assistant Chief Schulyer Sherwood.
On Wednesday evening, fire personnel had been dispatched to the Regional Fire Training Center, where an Ansonia volunteer firefighter was having a life-threatening medical emergency.
The patient was transported to the hospital with assistance from the fire department.
