Letter: Shays Has 'Blood on His Hands' Over War

To the Editor:

I see that former U.S. Congressman Christopher Shays, from Connecticut's 4th District, is ramping up his campaign to win the Republican nomination for the November election contest to fill Joe Lieberman's seat in the U.S. Senate. I read that he plans to attack his GOP opponent, Linda McMahon, over WWE deaths. That's real chutzpa, considering the former congressman has blood on his own hands. Talk about "the pot calling the kettle black!” Shays needs to be reminded about the deaths of 4,500 U.S. troops, and the ruined lives of tens of thousands of others, in the unnecessary Iraq War, for which he was a cheerleader and provided unyielding strong support.

Shays is also challenging McMahon on her past contribution of funds to support Democrats Rahm Emanuel and Nancy Pelosi (as reported by Ken Dixon in the Connecticut Post on Jan. 1). When it comes to support, Shays deserves to be challenged on his unqualified support of the monumentally incompetent and unqualified Sarah Palin for Vice President.
