Fairfield To Remember Advocate for Disabled

Fairfielders will gather to honor one of their most beloved residents Saturday morning. First Church Congregational will host a memorial service for Evelyn Grace Kennedy, a pioneering advocate for the mentally disabled in Connecticut. Kennedy died in October at the age of 94.

Kennedy was perhaps best known as the founder of the Kennedy Center, which helps thousands of disabled people in the Greater Bridgeport area live their daily lives. She also helped to create the state Department of Developmental Services, which provides the same help statewide.

The service begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11,  at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield. Memorial donations can be made to the Kennedy Center, Inc., 2440 Reservoir Ave., Trumbull, CT 06611.
