Other filming around Connecticut will start this week, the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development reported.
“Boychoir” is the story of a troubled and angry 11-year old boy from rural Texas who is admitted to a prestigious East Coast choir school. Completely out of his element, the chorister finds himself in a battle of wills with a demanding choirmaster, played by Hoffman, who recognizes a unique talent in this young boy and pushes him to find his creative self in music, according to IMDB.com.
While at a talk at Fairfield University on Thursday night, Hoffman said he hoped the film would "open the world of the American Boychoir School to a wider audience."
The boys in the choir had a "gift from God" that is taken away in three years, he said, calling the film a metaphor for life.
The film's producers are looking for extras to fill auditoriums for scenes during shooting.
Extras are needed on March 11 at Fairfield University, March 14 and 15 at Yale University and March 27 in Manhattan. Anyone interested or wanting more details should contact producers via the film's official email, boychoir2014@gmail.com.
