The funds came from a drive during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and will be used for NPBCC's services for women in need, according to a press release. The Breast Care Center "has been helping women in the community fight breast cancer for over a decade," according to the release, helping patients in Fairfield, Bridgeport and the surrounding communities.
“We are so grateful to the Southport Athletic Club,” said Dr. Donna Twist, Executive Director of the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center, in the release. “Their generosity will help women get the services they need for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer.”
Donors were invited to pin a ribbon on the club’s “Wall of Pink” with a dedication to a loved one in October, according to the release.
“Our members have been very generous,” said Kimberly Fox, Group Fitness Manager, who helped organize the effort, according to the release.
“Everyone has been affected by breast cancer, whether through friends or family,” said Lisa Waite, Manager of Marketing and Support Services at the Southport Athletic Club in the release. “Many of our members are survivors. Members were very receptive to the fundraiser.”
