Monday's forecast from the National Weather Service is tame, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures hovering near 40. Low pressure creeps into the region on Monday night.
That system will bring a wintry mix across the region late Monday night and into Tuesday morning. Drivers in the Tuesday morning commute should expect to see difficult travel conditions before the system changes to all rain during the day on Tuesday. Rain will continue Tuesday night and taper off early Wednesday morning.
There is a chance of rain on Wednesday, and rain and snow showers on Wednesday night. Thursday's forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of snow and temperatures turning colder, reaching only the high 20s or low 30s throughout much of the area.
There is the potential for a plowable snow from Wednesday's weather pattern, with the possibility of six inches or more. The National Weather Forecast said there is high uncertainty about the storm track, as the atmosphere dynamics that will potentially cause the storm to develop along the Connecticut coast are still out over the Pacific Ocean. The storm, if it does develop, should be a "fast-mover and be out to sea by Thursday afternoon,'' according to the NWS.
Sunny skies return on Friday with highs in the low 30s, and more rain could be headed to the region on the weekend.
