An off-duty Fairfield County firefighter saved a family of four and three dogs from a fire while plowing roadways in the area. The incident occurred in Fairfield County around 3:50 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 7 on Haviland Drive in Trumbull. Chief Greg Sanfanandre of the Long Hill Fire Company said Shaun Bogen, a town highway maintainer and firefighter with the same company, was working his snowplow when he noticed a garage fire. Firefighters were able to save a little dog who was hiding behind a couch has his home filled with smoke. The incident took place around 2:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, when Trumbull firefighters responded to a home on Rocky Hill Road, said the Trumbull Fire Department on Facebook. Police Officer Passing By Awakens Family Before Fire Destroys Home In Area
A fire that spread quickly destroyed a home in Shelton. The blaze broke around just before 7 a.m. Sunday, May 19. Shelton Patrol Officer Michael Kichar of the Shelton Police Department was on his way to work when he observed smoke coming from a residence at 184 Meadow St. in Shelton. Kichar called 911 and then was able to wake and alert the residents of the home and help them and the family dog escape, Shelton Police said. Fire Breaks Out At Trumbull Home
Firefighters were able to contain a garage fire, saving a Trumbull home in the process. The fire broke out around 11 p.m. at the home on Glenwood Drive in Trumbull on Thursday, Feb. 21, Long Hill Volunteer Fire officials said on Facebook. First arriving crews reported a heavy fire in the garage, which contained a Lexus SUV and a Porsche, and declared a working fire, the department said. An early morning fire on the second floor of a Trumbull home left the residence "unlivable." The Trumbull Fire Department responded to the fire around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at 14 Chatham Drive, the department said. The first firefighters on the scene confirmed an active fire on the second floor of the single family residential structure. Residents were safely evacuated as firefighters from Trumbull Center, Nichols and Long Hill Fire departments responded to the scene and attacked the blaze. Firefighters managed to save a cat during a large garage fire at a single-story Trumbull home. The fire took place around 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at a home on Hedgehog Road, said the Trumbull Fire Department.
