The incident occurred in Tolland County at 9:40 p.m., Monday, Aug. 12, in the eastbound lanes of I-84 in Vernon near Exit 66. Beginning at midnight on Tuesday, Nov. 20 and spanning through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, Connecticut State Police supplemented their normal patrol force with additional troopers who were targeting motorists on local roads and highways. Members of the New Canaan Police Department Patrol Division and the Connecticut State Police Traffic Unit’s Truck Squad conducted the special detail from 7 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
