In a world where COVID-19 pandemic rules dictate norms, self-serve and buffet-style eateries are in a possibly contaminated pickle. Mohegan Sun has announced that it will reopen a popular restaurant owned by Michael Jordan and an electronics store, and unveil a new gift shop. More than 80 stores and restaurants are housed at the over five-million square foot resort in Uncasville in southeastern Connecticut Most have reopened after mandated COVID-19 closures. Jose Gutierrez had been eating pizza for lunch for years at New Canaan Pizza. So when word got out that former owner Tommy Romas was closing the local favorite, he jumped at the chance to purchase the restaurant at 53 East Ave., and to add something that he said was sorely lacking in New Canaan, authentic Mexican fare.
