Police Sergeant In Fairfield County Charged With Sexual Assault
A Fairfield County police sergeant has been charged with alleged sexual assault stemming from a 2020 incident.
Matthew Perkowski, age 33, of Shelton, turned himself in to Shelton Police on Tuesday, June 7.
Perkowski, a Trumbull police sergeant and Shelton volunteer firefighter, was charged on a warrant with sexual assault and assault, said Lt. Robert Kozlowsky, of the Shelton Police.
He was released on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, June 8, Kozlowsky said.

A police officer in Fairfield County is facing strangulation and assault charges following what authorities described as a “family violence incident.”
Just after 3 p.m. Friday, April 15, police say they received a call about an assault that happened at a home in Norwalk, indicating the offender had left the premises.
The victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries, Norwalk Police said.

A former police officer has been arrested for alleged computer crimes and forgery for faking traffic stops in Fairfield County.
Edgar Gonzalez, age 31, of Stamford, turned himself in to Norwalk Police on Tuesday, Feb. 8 on a warrant obtained by Norwalk detectives.

Two Norwalk police officers have been arrested for an incident last year in which they were caught in a hotel room while on duty.
Officers Michael Dimeglio, an 8-year member of the department, and Sara Laudano, a 5-year employee, surrendered themselves at Norwalk Police Headquarters on Tuesday, Jan. 5, and were served with arrest warrants stemming from an incident that occurred on Saturday, Oct. 10, said Sgt. Sofia Gulino.
